2 years on the blog! Happy 2nd Birthday to The Gluten Free Greek! When I first started, I really had no idea about blogging at all, and was not a social media fan. I was flung into a world of tweets, likes, shares and insta stories and had no clue what I was doing half the time!
It was my birthday at the weekend and I turned the big 29! Apart from a few grey hairs sprouting here and there, and my neck and chin looking a bit dodgy when I take selfies at certain angles, I have been trying my best to embrace birthdays! I received some very nice little treats for my birthday, so I thought I would share a few of them!
With my nephews birthday and my sisters birthday coming very soon, we decided to make a fun chocolate cake with some pigs! Just because we can!
I was lucky enough to receive a cake in a tin last week from a company called Chacon Cakes, who are based in South West London. All cakes are made in a completely gluten free environment and the company specialises in making beautiful mini cakes, that you can create yourself too. I chose to have a chocolate cake base, with the first filling of vanilla cream and the second filling with chocolate ganache. The topping was white chocolate.
Birthday cake for the birthday lady! First attempt at making a gluten free sponge cake for my mums birthday! It turned out pretty well I thought!
Happy New Year Everyone! To celebrate I have made a gluten free Vasilopita cake. Vasilopita is a cake or bread that is made to celebrate the first day of the new year in Greece and many other places in Eastern Europe. The cake contains a lucky coin and whoever gets the slice with the coin in will have good luck thrust upon them! I have received the coin quite a few times much to my delight!
