It was my birthday at the weekend and I turned the big 29! Apart from a few grey hairs sprouting here and there, and my neck and chin looking a bit dodgy when I take selfies at certain angles, I have been trying my best to embrace birthdays! I received some very nice little treats for my birthday, so I thought I would share a few of them!

Time for tea and Victoria Sponge Cake

Is it time for tea? Oh I do love a Victoria sponge cake. One of my very first cakes that I made when I was first diagnosed with coeliac disease was a Victoria sponge. Some people just add jam to their Victoria sponge cake, but I use jam and cream. I also brought out the mad hatter teapot because I couldn’t enjoy my tea and cake without him!

A cake in a tin by Chacon Cakes!

I was lucky enough to receive a cake in a tin last week from a company called Chacon Cakes, who are based in South West London. All cakes are made in a completely gluten free environment and the company specialises in making beautiful mini cakes, that you can create yourself too. I chose to have a chocolate cake base, with the first filling of vanilla cream and the second filling with chocolate ganache. The topping was white chocolate.
